Mission Statement:
The Central America Relief Project (CARP) is a charitable organization at the University of Western Ontario. It is dedicated to improving the health care and education system of the poverty-stricken areas of Central America.
Each year, our organization will offer aid to a particular country in Central America. This year, we will be helping in El Salvador, a country whose development has been stagnated by civil war and internal political negligence. In particular, we will be offering aid to a small town, Carolina. This town's local clinic receives many patients from Carolina and surrounding villages throughout the year. This clinic does not have an ambulance. The closest hospital to the clinic is thirty minutes away; thus patients currently rely on the goodwill of the few local residents who have cars to drive them to the hospital. Unfortunately, many patients cannot be driven to the hospital promptly or cannot find any form of transportation and thus, they die on their way to the hospital or in the clinic.
Our goal for this year is raise $10,000 money so that the clinic can buy an ambulance.
In future years, we hope to help other Latin American countries, such as Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Peru, and Colombia. Moreover, we would like to collect school supplies and send them to Central America in the future.
